BRAT PACK
(Bringing Reading Activities Together)
This is an all ages program where we explore a variety of topics through crafts, story times and conversations..B.R.A.T. Pack Run in partnership with Crowsnest Community Library & Literacy Foundation from September to May. For families with children of all ages ( 0 -12)
Open Gym
Drop in program where parents are encouraged to play with their children using parachutes, mats, beams, hoops etc. to encourage gross motor movement and sensory play. Families with children 0-6.
Story & Craft Time
A partnership with the Pincher Creek Library. Come enjoy books, songs and a craft. New theme every week. Families with children 0-6.
Coffee Time
Parents come to our Brighter Futures office for coffee and conversation, while your kids hang out (with supervision!), in the Brighter Futures playroom.
Current Rotating Programs
Tickles and Tunes
Parent baby literacy program with rhymes, singing circle time for moms to bond with babies and to add some tools to their toolboxes to help calm and bond with baby. Also have one session focusing on baby safety and CPR (volunteer from red cross presents). 90 minute sessions for parents with children birth to crawling.
Ooey Gooey (weather permitting)
A full body sensory experience with different topics each week of paint, gardening, mud and all aspects of messy art and play. Program is scheduled for 1 hour but often lasts longer as the children and parents often are so involve they don't want to stop
Little Chefs
A literacy based family cooking class based on books. We cook a child friendly recipe each week and also have theme based crafts/centres to go along with the theme . Discuss nutrition and healthy choices with both parents and children and also parent topics like dealing with picky eaters. Families with children 2-6
Kids/Toddlers on the Move/Inside Out
A program that happens inside and out! Focuses on practicing some of our gross motor skills and also learning how to play screen free with our toddlers. Families with children 1-3.
Little Picassos
An art program done in all 3 communities. Working with parents and children to break down more complex art projects together and express creativity and cooperativeness with parents and children. Focusing on different mediums and geographic locations as topics to help expose kids and parents to diversity in our world. Families with children 3-6 but we do have some 2 year olds that attend and require more parental help.
Mad Scientists
A parent child 90 minute program This program is geared toward children 1-6 and their parents.The program focuses on socialization and play. It also includes opportunities to strengthen fine and gross motor skills, sensory and science opportunities, language, math, creative art and dramatic play through different hands on stations each week. Families with children 1-6.
Lets Explore the Community
Outside program held in various locations in the community and puts parents in touch with the different child friendly amenities available for their use as a family. Fathers often attend this program as we explored different activities and safety that needed to happen in the forest at the pool, at the playground etc. Families with children 0-6.

Example Rotating Programs
Napi Tales
Partnership with Crowsnest Community Library program in partnership with Aboriginal Youth at Napi with Blackfoot themed activities and crafts. Each week we explore a piece of the culture with the families sharing oral stories and follow up with a hands on activity for the families to participate in (making/playing traditional games, making traditional dolls, learning about traditional parenting). Families with children 0-12.
Magic Carpet Ride
Family literacy program for parents and their preschool children. Families learn together in sessions that include stories, songs, play and learning and activity centres. The program provides information and tips for parents to help prepare their children for school. Children enjoy learning to love books and reading. Parents are involved in helping their children learn, both in the program and at home. Families with children 0-6
Music Monday
This parent and child program with singing, dancing, and playing instruments with a chance to encourage and practice a wide variety of abilities such as gross and fine motor skills, turn-taking, social skills, and active listening. In class, we also share tips and ideas for using music throughout the week. Families with children 2-6
Soup for the Soul/Nobody's Perfect
A parent guided Nobody's Perfect workshop running 2 hours each week with childcare. Also combined it with a nutrition component where we cooked a healthy soup together to eat and sent supplies home with the families to make the soup with their own families. Families with children 0-6
Laugh and Learn Together
A social group for parents of 0-18 month old children . Come and hang out for a coffee, meet new parents and chat while watching your little one grow. This program is in partnership with the Indoor Playground and Parent Link.
Loose Parts
A drop in program kids and parents are exposed to materials that can be moved, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up, and taken apart and put back together in multiple ways.Imagination, creativity, curiosity, desire, and need are the motivation of loose parts. Families with children 0-6
